Connect to TracsConnect
Connecting ChatGPT takes a few minutes. You create an access key in OpenAI, paste it into TracsConnect, and run a test.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You should have:
- An OpenAI platform account
- Billing and usage limits reviewed in OpenAI
- A new access key created for TracsConnect
- Your organization ID or project ID, if your OpenAI account requires one
Step 1: Create an access key in OpenAI
Section titled “Step 1: Create an access key in OpenAI”Sign in to the OpenAI platform, open Settings, and go to API Keys for the project you want TracsConnect to use.
Create a new key and copy it when OpenAI shows it. Treat it like a password — you will paste it into TracsConnect in the next step.
Step 2: Open ChatGPT in TracsConnect
Section titled “Step 2: Open ChatGPT in TracsConnect”Sign in to your dashboard, click Integrations in the sidebar, and find the ChatGPT card.
Click Setup. A setup window opens.
Step 3: Paste the key and optional IDs
Section titled “Step 3: Paste the key and optional IDs”Paste the key into the API Key field.
If your OpenAI account uses organization or project routing, fill in Organization ID and Project ID as needed. Leave those fields blank when your key already belongs to the right project.
Step 4: Test the connection
Section titled “Step 4: Test the connection”Click Test connection. TracsConnect checks that the key works with OpenAI and confirms which models your account can access.
If you see a red error, jump to Troubleshoot.
Step 5: Save
Section titled “Step 5: Save”Click Save at the bottom of the setup window.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Supported TracsConnect AI features can use OpenAI for the shops included in your rollout. Start with a limited workflow and have staff review the output before expanding to more users.
