QR Codes

A QR code is the easiest way to get customers into the Drop-Off Wizard — they point their phone at it, tap the notification, and they’re in. After-hours drop-offs are the main reason to use one: customers showing up outside business hours can self-serve from your drop box or front door without ever calling.

In TracsConnect

In the dashboard, open Setup → TracsConnect Drop-off, then click the QR Codes tab.

  1. Click Create New. A modal titled Create Trackable QR Code / Short Link opens.
  2. Leave the type set to QR Code (or pick Short Link if you want a plain trackable URL instead — useful for putting in a text message).
  3. Give it a Name — something that tells you where you’ll put it, like Drop Box QR, Front Door QR, or After-Hours Sign. Customers never see this name.
  4. Optionally add a Description and a Custom Destination URL. Leave the custom URL empty to use the default drop-off URL.
  5. Leave Expiration Date blank. Current QR codes do not expire automatically.
  6. Click Create QR Code. TracsConnect creates the QR and shows it in the list.

| Placement | Why it works | |---|---| | On the drop box | The whole reason the wizard exists — customers dropping off after hours scan once, fill in the wizard, and leave | | On the front door (after-hours notice) | Customers showing up to a closed shop see “Drop off online here” instead of leaving and calling back tomorrow | | Yard sign at the lot entrance | Customers parking after-hours know there’s a way to leave the vehicle without paperwork | | In your appointment confirmation text | Lets pre-scheduled customers check in from their phone before they walk in | | At the service counter | Front-counter walk-ins can fill in the wizard themselves while you finish with another customer |

Each QR code shows:

  • Total scans — every time a phone reads the code
  • Unique scans — separate devices that have scanned the code
  • Top Referrers — where the phone was when it opened the link (the browser or app it came from, like Mobile Safari, Chrome Mobile, or Direct when nothing referred them)
  • Scans by date — a small chart showing scan volume over time

Use this to figure out which QR placement is actually getting used. If the drop-box QR has zero scans after a week, the print might be in a spot customers can’t reach with a phone in the dark — move it or add a small flashlight to the drop box. To tell drop-box scans apart from front-door scans, create a separate QR for each placement and name them clearly — the name is the only way TracsConnect can tell them apart.

Click the Download icon next to a QR to save it as a PNG. Open the PNG in any printing app — drop-box and after-hours signs print well at 5x5 inches or larger so customers can scan from a few feet away in low light. Laminating the print is a good idea for anything outside.

Disabling stops a QR from working without losing its history. Past analytics stay in the dashboard for your records — only future scans are blocked. Use this when you want to retire a QR but still see its prior numbers later.

  1. Find the QR in the list and expand its actions.
  2. Click Disable (the button with the Power icon).
  3. The QR stays in the list with its analytics intact. To turn it back on, click the same button — it now reads Enable.

Deleting removes the QR and its analytics from the dashboard permanently. Use this only when you no longer need the history.

  1. Find the QR in the list and expand its actions.
  2. Click the trash icon.
  3. Confirm in the dialog. The QR and its scan history are removed and can’t be recovered.
